Don't go. I've worked Black Friday, I've shopped Black Friday. My best advice is to skip it. However, sometimes you just have to go. Scratch that, get the intense desire to go. In such cases, I suggest that you:
- Wake up extremely early and get at the front of the line of the place you most want to shop.
- Rank each place you want to shop in order of priority
- Make a master schedule of all the places you want to hit, what time they open, what product you want, etc.
- Waste no time "shopping" for items not already on your list.
- Get in, get out, go home!

I agree :)
i'm not a huge fan of black friday and those lines!! one time i went and thought i was getting a good deal (before 7am) and then after 7am the deal was even better!! those sneaky stores!!
Here's my suggestion: Shop online!
hahah - might be the only one here that LOVES black friday! i love the thrill of finding a good deal. i dont care about standing in line as long as i got what i wanted at a darn good price!
i think its in my blood. my mom is the exact same way. its actually a family tradition. we all get up early and hit all our fave spots. my sister and i are taking one car, then my parents take another.
okay enough with the long comment. all that to say, black friday is highlight for me!! :)
Having a schedule is so important!
I like your advice... I would NEVER want to shop on Black Friday... I don't have the patience for it! I will shop online like Terri said! xo
I would NEVER go shopping on black Friday... I don't have the patience for it! I will shop online as Terri suggested. xo
I love the sales, but hate the crowds. I'm all over cyber Monday verses black Friday!! Thx for stopping by today!!
I agree...I have never gone! I just can't handle the crowds! Just found your blog through my friend Daphne at Flip Flops and Pearls...looking forward to reading more! Nice "meeting" you and Happy early Thanksgiving!
Good tips! I haven't done it in years and I'm all the happier for it :)
Got a recipe for that spiked hot cocoa lady?
i've worked black friday, too - for a number of years i worked in retail. i refuse to do any shopping for the entire weekend. i plan on doing a lot on line and shopping locally.
thanks for stopping by my blog and connecting with a fellow rosebud :)
xo
Nice to "meet" you too!
Love your tips, although I'm a skip-it type girl. It's too stressful for me!
Spiked cocoa might help beforehand! ;) XX!
I'm glad we don't have black friday here. It's horrid working in retail as it is without all the craziness of special sales.
I am a total avoider of black friday. I usually don't even leave the house. I vote for online shopping all the way :)
Thanks for the comment! :)
I always shop Black Friday. It's a tradition my husband and I have. Typically, I would shy away from events like this, but I enjoy the people watching. I have also gotten some of my best deals from standing in line. My MIL was also rewarded a $100 gift card at Belk for standing in line last year. :)
Also, your Crohn's posts caught my eye. My mother was diagnosed with Crohn's when I was in the 7th grade. She has had many, many issues with it. This year she has had four surgeries to remove and then re-attach her colostomy bag. I hope it doesn't give you any trouble this holiday season!
