Hooked On...Television

For four years I went without cable, four solid years. I had convinced myself I no longer needed television shows for entertainment. I was right, in a way. I went for four years without really missing cable. I had no desire to watch anything beyond what aired on the 3 (on a clear day) channels I got with my rabbit ears. Then I got married and we decided we didn't need to buy cable. We had enough bills as it was, so we opted for the free "cable" which was only slightly better than my rabbit ears. I went for a year and a half with free cable and I was perfectly content. So after five and a half years of free television, my husband and I decided we deserved DVR. So we splurged. For the first time in 5 years, we paid for our television connection. So why is it that I find myself completely hooked now that I'm paying for cable? Is it that I have the need to get my money's worth??
