We're about through with our trip to Memphis, and I'm totally hooked on vacations with family! I went to Memphis with my mom, Terri, my aunt Tammi and her friend Pat, my Grandma Shirley, and my great-aunt Patsy. To see more about our girl's trip in Memphis, visit my blog homepage!
Yesterday we slept in since we had such a late night watching Nathan in Wicked. We took our time getting up but then we headed to Tupelo, Mississippi, known for being Elvis' birthplace. The house is so tiny, only two rooms. This is a picture of me on the front porch swing.

As you walk through the front door, you pass the one bedroom and then into this room, the kitchen and dining area. They said that when Elvis lived here the home was covered with newspaper, not pretty wallpaper.

This is the bedroom, the first room you would see as you walked through the front door. Elvis' family said this is how the house would have been furnished when Elvis and his parents lived here.

Close by to Elvis' birth home was the church he sang in while growing up. It may look like an old church on the outside, but several years ago they raised enough funds to completely renovate the church into a high-tech presentation complete with digital video reenactments projected on three walls of how church would have gone when Elvis attended. It was really something else.

A picture of my aunt Tammi, Grandma Shirley, great-aunt Patsy, and my mom inside the church. The ceiling opened up and three white projection screens came down on three walls when the presentation began.

Also a part of Elvis' birthplace was a small museum in honor of Elvis' childhood and his childhood friends. I took pictures of the clothing, of course! I

Also on the grounds of Elvis' birthplace was this church. I'm not sure what significance it has, but it was beautiful!

After we completed everything Elvis in Tupelo, we decided to find a local favorite restaurant in town. We ate at Fairgrove Grill, the food and atmosphere was excellent and the service was top notch, we had high expectations since Tupelo is known for their hospitality.

After lunch we headed back to Memphis. We spent some time freshening up in our hotel room and some of us took naps. Grandma and I goofed off taking pictures of ourselves. :)

After a few hours at the hotel, we decided to meet up with a high school friend of my mom and Tammi. We met her at the Spaghetti Warehouse. Again, the food was excellent!!

This picture is of my mom, her high school friend Carrie, and my aunt Tammi. They had a lot of high school memories to reminisce about.

All of us eating our dinner...

After finishing our meal, we came back to our hotel and my Grandma and I had a photo shoot: she was the model and I, the photographer. She was modeling her Harley Davidson and Elvis pajama pants in front of the picture of Elvis she got to sleep with every night. She was just smitten the entire vacation. :)
Here she is showing off the Elvis watch my aunt Tammi got for her...

She wasn't quite "posed" yet for this picture but I thought she looked adorable!

Here she is posed, her hands over her heart in front of the picture of Elvis!

Today we are heading back to Missouri, we sure had a wonderful time!

Don't you just love Memphis.
My brother-in-law and his wife use to live there and I loved the downtown area. Did you guys go to the Peabody to see the ducks?
Looks like you all had a great time!
Wow - thanks for the tour! We were in Memphis for a friends wedding 13 years ago and only drove by Elvis' house....so I'm glad I got to see his house where he grew up - Memphis is a great place....lots of fun memories!
Your mom sent me over...you did do an amazing job documenting your Memphis trip and what happiness on all your faces. Since you're the youngest of all these terrific gals, I'm delighted that you had shared the same enthusiasm for the journey.
Precious photo shoot with your Grandmother!!!!!
